Plattsburgh Housing Outlet, Inc. Announces Results of Halloween Festival Benefiting The Ronald McDonald House in Burlington , VT.

November 8, 2007, Plattsburgh NY- The Halloween Festival held October 27th at Plattsburgh Housing Outlet collected over $4500 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Burlington, Vermont, for a lifetime total donation over $23,000. 260 hearty children and their families enjoyed the festivities of the day despite the rainy October day. Participants were asked to make a $1 donation to trick or treat in Plattsburgh Housing Outlet’s display homes, staffed and sponsored by area businesses and organizations. Many of the businesses got into the spirit of the day by decorating the porch of their home and dressing in costume.

Children participated in arts and crafts and enjoyed cider and donuts. The kids were entertained by magician, IshKabibble, in the warm service waiting area in Della Honda. The Adirondack Safe Kids offered a car seat check and reported that of the 36 checked, many were improperly installed. They gave away 23 new seats to low income parents, including children who arrived in none. The technicians welcomed the warm, dry surroundings this year in the Della Honda service bay. District #3 gave fire truck tours and gave out fire safety information. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department provided Child IDs featuring the child’s picture and fingerprints, which will be kept in a state database. “It is a fun community event where children can trick or treat in a controlled environment and families can learn valuable safety lessons.

The Safe Kids Coalition offered a valuable service, community businesses came together, and despite the inclement weather, the children had a wonderful afternoon” said Michelle LaBounty, Marketing Director for Plattsburgh Housing Outlet, “It is hard to believe that this was our eighth year! My son was an infant when we started all of this.” LaBounty presented the proceeds to Pam Fenimore, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House to continue its support of families in need.
